STORIES FROM THE ROAD
August 29, 1993
FOUND MONEY
Today had started out pretty good. I stopped at a
church in Ogden, IL. They were getting ready to have a
service out of doors in front of the church. I was
welcomed and even given the chance to speak.
Afterwards, I was surprised in getting almost two
hundred dollars in donations.
It was around 1:00 p.m. when I got on the road. I
decided to stop in Danville near the state line to get some groceries
before going on into Indiana. When I got back to the
bike after buying groceries, I was surprised at
finding a money order on the pavement right by my rear
wheel. It had been made out to a little over three
hundred dollars.
What was so strange about this was that all it had on
it was the embossed amount. It didn't have any other
writing on it telling who had bought it or who it was
to. Also, it had both receipt coupons on it that had to be
torn off before sending the money order. They were
blank also.
I wasn't sure what to do with it. I just couldn't just
leave it there or throw it away. After getting the
groceries put away, I went back to the store to see if
anybody knew anything about this. They said that
nobody in the area sold a money order like this one. I
put it in my wallet and tomorrow I'll go to a bank to
see if it could be traced back to the buyer.
I'm not sure if this was a gift from ADONAI or an
anomynous supporter but if this was the case for the
latter it would have been one of the largest
one-person donations to my ministry ever. When I got
to the state line, I stopped to take a picture of the
bike and the state sign as a memento. I was surprised
at finding a 35mm camera in it's case lying by the
side of the road. This had been a strange day of
finding things.
