STORIES FROM THE ROAD

I had a good time riding along the shoulder of I-8
except for the fact that I got a flat about three
miles out of Willcox, AZ. I got the flat fixed as fast as
I could because it was getting dark fast. After about
a mile and a half, I got on Bus. I-8 and rushed into
Willcox as fast as I could.
I almost stopped along the way and find a place to
camp out but I decided to go on into Willcox. I got
into Willcox a little after dusk. While I was walking
through the downtown area trying to find the police
station, an officer on patrol stopped me and aked me
what I was doing. I gave him a short review of my
travels so far and asked him where the station was and
if somebody there could help me locate a minister.
The officer gave me directions to the station. When I
got there, the officer at the counter must have been
expecting. I showed her a couple of newspaper
clippings and explained her that I needed some help in
locating a minister. She asked me for some ID and told
me to take a seat and she would try to help me out.
After about fifteen minutes, she called me to the
counter. Instead of telling me about a minister, she
gave me this piece of paper to sign. It turns out that
the churches in town had formed a ministerial alliance
and that they would be willing to put me up in a motel
for the night. Also, she gave me another voucher so
that tomorrow morning I could go to a local grocery
store to buy ten dollars of groceries. This was great
because I was getting a little low on supplies.
When I got to the motel, I found it to be a little run
down. The room was a bit small but there was a good
heater and a black and white tv to watch. Tomorrow, I
hope to be in Lordsburg, NM.
