THE WALKERS

They were just two walkers walking side by side and hand in hand heading northward along the California coast around Orick. These were not your ordinary strollers of town life but a young couple with a mission. I caught up with them miles from any town on a lonely stretch of US 101 along the Pacific Ocean.

The couple were in their early twenties and from Kentucky. Their goal was to walk the Perimeter of the United States for Christ. They had started about a year ago with an average of around twenty miles a day and with sag support. On the guy's back was a small backpack frame with a small wooden cross on it instead of a pack.
