STORIES FROM THE ROAD

RIDE OVER WATER
When I saw the small hovercraft skirting over the
water in the Intracoatal Waterway east of Daytona
Beach, FL, I had to stop. I wanted to stop and watch it.
It was really neat. The hovercraft was around ten feet
long, had two seats, and a skirt around two feet high. I
waited around till the driver headed to shore.
It was really wild when the driver offered to take me
out for a ride. His wife offered to watch my bike for
me. After sinching up the life jacket, we headed out.
The ride was really fantastic. We must have speeded
over the water at least thirty miles per hour.
After about twenty-minutes, the driver offered to let
me take over so we carefully switched places. This was
really great. I had a great time for about ten minutes
until the motor started to act up and we almost slowed
down to a stop. My friend didn't know what had
happened and we carefully switched places again.
We slowly made it to shore with the motor going at
less than half its normal power. My new friend told me
that I should keep playing because he didn't have an
oar. When we got back to shore, we found out that one
of the spark plug cables had come loose but we
wouldn't have been able to fix it while we were on
water.
