ORANGE ATTACK
I was trying to mind my own business trying to get
across the drawbridge over the mouth of the Green
River between South Amboy and Perth Amboy, NJ when I got
attacked. It was already difficult trying to walk
through the obstacle course of trash and broken bottle
glass on the narrow walkway over the bridge. A few
feet after I had gone around a girder I felt a hard
blow to the left side of the back of my neck.
Somebody had decided that I needed an orange on my
back. They had opened up their car window and gave it
a toss. It had to have been traveling as fast as a
baseball. It was lucky for me that the orange seemed
to have been half eaten so that it wasn't as hard as a
whole one. I'm not sure that the location of the blow
was intentional or that the person miscalculated in
trying to hit me in the back.
