STORIES FROM THE ROAD

CONVENT STAY
It's hard to believe that this is my 1,046th day on
the road. I had a good ride from Vassar, MI. In Corunna, I
was able to get in contact with the president of the
local Habitat affiliate. She told me that she would
meet me at the affiliate's office. It turns out that
she had called up several of the board members to come
down and visit me. One of the board members, who was a
pastor, slipped me twenty dollars before he left and I
was given an affiliate t-shirt. There was an offer to
stay with another board member in nearby Owosso.
I was just given an address. When I got into Owosso, I
was amused to see that the address was the Catholic
Convent of St. Joseph and the board member was a nun.
I was given a first floor bedroom.
While taking a shower, all I could think about was what I would do if
one of the other sisters were to come into the
bathroom while I was naked. I couldn't think of a good
song to sing so that people would know that the room
was occupied.
