BICYCLISTS - NO LOITERING
I got into Ness City, KS a little around 5:00 p.m. after a
slow ride westward on KS. 96. There was nothing much
in the town. At a gas station - quick mart on the
corner of KS 96 and U.S. 283, I wasn't amused to see a
sign geared to bicyclists. The sign said that said
that bicyclists should not loiter.
It turns out that Ness City is on the TransAmerican
BikeCentenniel bike route across the country. I guess
the problem is that large groups who travel along KS
96 stop by and cause some problems so that is why the
sign was put up. There are several touring
organizations who have more than a dozen riders in
their groups that are led across the country. I didn't
stay to long at the gas station because of the sign.
