THE MOOSE

For the past several days here in Vermont, I had seen signs warning that there were moose in the area but I haven't seen any. People had told me that to see a moose is actually rare because they normally are active in the early morning and usually stay away from populated areas. About halfway between West Hartford and Hartford at the state line, I was surprised at seeing a moose in somebody's back yard.

There was no traffic in both directions, so I had the moose about four minutes to myself. I couldn't tell whether the moose was either male or female since it didn't have any antlers. It was still pretty impressive and tall. I think that it was at least eight feet tall.

I wasn't going to get any closer to check it out better. When I first saw it, the moose must have been at least thirty feet away from me. I quickly took out my camera to see if I could get a picture of it before it headed back up the hill behind the house.
