STORIES FROM THE ROAD

BODY SCARE
I had an okay night at the motel. The bed had been so
big that when I woke up I found myself sleeping
diagonally. I left the motel around 8:00 a.m. Before
leaving Henderson, TN, I stopped at a salvage food store to buy
a few things.
While putting the food away into my pannier, I was a
bit frightened when I started to feel a sharp pain in
my chest. I wasn't sure what it was from because I
didn't have any more of the possible warning signs of
a possible heart attack. I didn't have any pain that
radiated into my arms or faint.
The pain in my chest possibly came on from the fact
that I might have pulled something in my chest while I
was squatting down by the bike and using my right hand
to put the food away. The sharp pain lasted only for a
few seconds. I stopped at a roadside rest north of
town to take a break and figure out what had happened.
I was good enough to get back on the road in about a half
hour.
