STORIES FROM THE ROAD

POLICE STATION
The ride from Huntville to Gadsen, AL was hard because I
had to deal with some head winds. It was just around
dusk when I got into Gadsen. I had a hard time finding
the police station. I got turned around a bit because
the city was remodeling the downtown area. The search
took me around twenty minutes.
I finally made it to the police station just after
dark. I had hoped that somebody there might know a
place for me to camp out or a minister they could
contact. The people at the desk didn't know of any
minister. They also didn't think that camping out in
the city park would be safe even though they had a
caretaker.
Instead, one of the officers said that I could camp
out on the second floor hallway of the station. There
was a sectional couch to sleep on. The only problem
might be that there were two soda machines which might
keep me up during the night. I accepted the offer
because I was too tired to find any other place.
