HANGER CHURCH
I was having a pretty good day of rest at the home of
the local Habitat affiliate president outside of Sweet Home, OR. Instead of
staying in the main house, I was given permission to
use a small wooden cabin down by a river that flowed
back. It was pretty peaceful at the cabin.
"Liz" (my bike) was taken to the local bikeshop for
some needed repairs. The affiliate president's husband
offered to pay for the repairs. New cranks and front
gears were put on along with a chain, rear cluster,
and rear derailleur cable and housing. The repairs and
new parts came to about eighty dollars.
In the evening, we went to the family's church that
was held nearby. Actually it was in the husband's
airplane hanger. The chuch had been meeting there for
several years. Indoor/ outdoor carpeting had been put
on the concrete floor of the hanger.
Once the plane was rolled out, rows of folding chairs were put up and
a portable pulpit and sound system was put in place.
There had to have been at least sixty people in the
congregation. Usually the church doesn't meet on
Monday nights but this was a make-up session because
of some conflicts on Sunday. After the service, I was
given a ten dollar "green-handshake".
