STORIES FROM THE ROAD

DOG RIDE
Cycling no matter which way you travel on the Pacific
Coast Highway (US 1) isn't really easy. There are up
and down hills and many cliff hugging curves. The
hardest section is really between San Francisco and
Leggett, CA.
I was making my way northward up a moderate grade
between the small towns of Tomales and Fallon when
another cyclist zipped passed me heading south. I just
had a glimpse of him for a few seconds. He was really
going fast.
Helping him to have that fast speed was a two-wheeled
trailer that was really packed to the gills and packed
up high. What really stuck in my mind about that
trailor was that in front was a German Shepherd puppy.
I'm not sure whether the look on it's face was one of
enjoyment of the ride or the fact that it might be
scared. I will never know because the distance between
us increased ever so quickly.
