STORIES FROM THE ROAD

NEAR BLOWOUT
I guess ADONAI's angels were looking out after me
because if I hadn't stopped to repair a slow leak in
my front tube I might have had an accident. When I got
the tire off the wheel, I noticed that there were two
tread holes. One was big enough for the tube to show.
If I hadn't stopped, I could have had a serious
blowout and maybe a crash.
I glued on some patches to cover the holes. The larger
of the two looked like it could possibly get worse if
I rode on it so I put enough air into the tire so that
I could walk it. I figuered that I must have been at
least twenty miles away from Baltimore. I walked maybe
two hours along the road. I was hoping to find a
church along the way so that I could attend the
service but there wasn't one.
It was around 1 p.m. when I made it to the outskirts
of Townson, MD. I stopped at a quickmart to check out the
phonebook to see if there was a bike shop in the area.
I was really surprised when I found the address for a
bike shop and it was just two blocks away from where I
was. I didn't think that it was going to be open but I
went over there anyway.
I was really surprised when I found the shop open. I
was also fortunate when I found a tire there that
would fit the bike. The price was reasonable at
thirteen dollars. Now, I have 700x35 tires on both
wheels. This tire wasn't as knobby as the one that I
had in back.
