TRIP 2001 UPDATES
Update #9 - May 22nd, 2001
Mt. Gilead, Ohio - 2191 miles
I thought I'd write up an update because a couple neat things had happened. Here in Mt. Gilead, I've met some neat people.
One of them is a nice lady named Jan who run's a local hair cutting establishment. I really needed a haircut. I go a long
time between cuts and the last one was probably back in February in Georgia. My hair was really getting long and shaggy.
The front bang was so long that it went below my nose. I also had a bag case of "bicycle wings" in back. While Jan cut my
hair, we talked about my ministry. After the cut was done, I was getting ready to pull out my wallet but Jan said that the
cut would be free to help out my ministry. I told her that I'd pass on a sort of plug about her place so if you're ever in
the area of Mt. Gilead, Ohio just south of Galion on U.S. 42 and east of Marion, don't forget to stop at "Jan's Hair Place"
right on Main Street a couple of blocks north of the Town Square.
Another neat thing that happened is that the company of my recumbent (Lightning Cycle Dynamics in Lompoc, California)
sent me two new idler pulleys for the chain for free. For some unknown reason, the chain was starting to chew up the
idler pulleys when I was in the low gears. This really made the bent noisy while going up hills. After a few emails,
they offered to send me replacement pulleys. They arrived here in Mt. Gilead before I did. It's really great to have
a company stand behind their product.
I've got a few more days off before heading on to Michigan.
