TRIP 2001 UPDATES
Update #11 - June 5th, 2001
Battle Creek, MI - 2590 miles
The past week has been me really crossing the Indiana-Michigan state line several times. For a couple of days, I was with
new friends in the Niles, MI area. Over the weekend, I traveled down to Elkhart, Indiana so that I could stay with another
friend. It was really hard for me to get used to what time it was since both states were in different time zones.
I had a pretty good weekend in the Elkhart area. My friend and I did go to see the local air show. It was okay but I wished
that the weather would have been a little bit better.
That's one thing that I wished was a lot better and this is the weather. For the past month, it has been downright cold and
wet. I've only had maybe a week where I could actually take off my rain gear and get some good days of riding in.
Monday, I left the Elkhart area and traveled north and east to Kalamazoo area. I had a good time visiting with the
executive director of the local Habitat affiliate in Kalamazoo and I stayed at one of the local churches for the night.
Today, I was hoping to ride to Hastings, Michigan but the rain started up again and I only made it to Battle Creek before
the rain started. Tomorrow, I'll be heading out again towards the Mackinac Bridge and the U.P. of Michigan. I hope to be in
the U.P. in about a week.
