TRIP 2002 UPDATES
Update #37 - September 23rd, 2002
Fort Wayne, IN - 6,435 miles
It has been almost a week since I arrived in Fort Wayne. My body is liking the fact that it has some time to recover
from all of the pitfalls that I've had this year. The ribs are still a little sore on the left side from the mishap that
I had with a truck outside of Nicholsville, KY. I'm grateful to the fact that it doesn't seem that there are any cracked
ribs. I'm just having a hard time getting used to sleeping in a bed.
It was pretty strange taking the recumbent apart last week so that I could send the frame back to the company in California
for replacement. I got it off via U.P.S. last Thursday. It should arrive this Thursday and I hope that the company sends
a replacement frame quickly. I'm just hoping that I can get all of the parts back on to the new frame and adust the
cables properly. If I do have any problem, there is a bike shop in Fort Wayne that sells recumbents.
I still don't know whether I will be getting back on the road again once the recumbent is put back together. I will be
checking with some of the local ministers to see if maybe there might be a ministry that I could either volunteer with
or maybe work part-time with over the winter. I will also be looking into whether there might be some housing
arrangements made available where I could maybe do some odd-jobs or maybe keep an elderly person company. I think that
it would be all right for me to take the rest of the year off. I do need more recovery time.
Maybe if I can take some time off the road, I might be able to write or start to write that book that everybody wants
me to write. We'll have to see. It's up to ADONAI now. As I have always said, each day and mile cycled will be with
ADONAI's and Y'SHUA's comfort, help, and guidance.
