TRIP 2003 UPDATES
Update #7- Feb 10th, 2003
Andalusia, AL - 1,154.7 miles (1,847.6 kms.)
I had spent four days in Americus. I was able to visit with some friends in person and on the telephone. I hadn't been
in Americus for almost two years.
There isn't much to say about last week's ride between Americus, GA and Andalusia, AL. Weather was the major difficulty.
For the most part temperatures have been in the forties and fifties. The last couple of days there was also the threat
of rain. Being away from the coast, I'm also into the rolling hills of the South. Also, I'm having some problems keeping
the V-brakes working properly. I'm not a good bike mechanic when it comes to brakes and spokes.
I didn't really get to speak at churches along the way. I did have a good reception at the United Methodist Church in
Bainbridge, GA and the United Methodist Church in Opp, AL. At both churches, I was surprised at getting a total of one
hundred dollars in Green Handshakes.
From Andalusia, I'll be traveling to either Demopolis or Selma, AL. I'll be then heading across Mississippi towards
Shreveport, LA. After Shreveport, it will be a short ride to the Garland, TX area north of Dallas. Eventually, I'll
be making my way along the Southern part of the country to California.
