TRIP 2004 UPDATES
Update #29 - July 27, 2004
Everett, PA - 7,490.7 miles (11,985.1 kms.)
The ride to Pittsburgh went okay. I did it in 2 days instead of the 5 or 6 that I thought that it would take. It was a
little tricky because of lots of road construction, hills, and traffic. I also had a late evening flat front tire. It
was lucky for me that I was able to find a new inner tube at 8 p.m.
For the last three days, I've been riding (mostly walking) along U.S. 30. I'm in the Allegheny Mountains and will soon
be in the Appalachians. It has also been a wet ride. Yesterday, I had to make my way down a steep 6 mile stretch of
9% grade in the fog with visibilaty down to just fifty feet. I've got three more days of riding through the mountains
with climbs over two mountain ranges on the way to Chambersburg. Between Chanbersburg and Gettysburg, I'll be crossing
the Appalachian Trail.
I'm switching to posting updates every 2 weeks. I need to conserve memory space on my website.
I've been thinking about trying to find another ministry opportunity that I can volunteer at for a while. There might
be some good possibilities for that in the Washington, D.C. area. Trying to stay on the road "year round" is really
hard.
I'll try and post and update as often as I can if my plans change again.
