TRIP 2006 UPDATES
Update #3 - February 02, 2006
Americus, GA
474.6 miles (759.4kms)
I was thinking that I would officially start what would be my 14th mission trip next week but it will not happen until
Wednesday, March 01st. My friend (who I've been staying with since the middle of last month) told me that he didn't want
to see me on the road till it got warmer. I am taking him up on the offer.
I still have some friends who I want to visit with here in Americus. Also, there's the possibly of my speaking at a few
churches in the area. I will be getting the recumbent back from the bike shop in Albany, GA this weekend.
I haven't really gone out much since being here in Americus. I tend to become a "homebody" and a bit of a "recluse" when
I'm taking a furlough off the road. I need to recharge my batteries to get ready to meet all of the people on the road.
I have been going out a little bit for walks so that I won't get "Cabin Fever". Also, I've been doing a lot of chores
(yardwork / home repairs) to help my friend out and sort-of earn my keep.
My friend does have DSL so I have been doing a lot of work on this website. I have pretty well redone the whole thing.
The font style on all 500+ pages is the same. Also, I have been doing some promoting of the site by going out to the
websites that are in the the Fellowships that I belong to and signing the website's guestbooks and also visiting the
websites that have also won the awards that I have been given and signing their guestbooks also.
The website has had a lot of traffic last month. Over 1000 new visitors stopped by. This is the second highest total
since I started tracking visits since Feb. 1999. Also, there were 415 repeat visits. This is the highest number of
repeats.
One of the major things that I will be doing the rest of this month is contacting people and ministries to set up possible
visits and stop-overs for this year's mission trip. There have been a lot of invitations posted in the website
guestbook.
From Americus, GA, I'll probably be heading back to Florida first. I want to see how the people are doing in Arcadia and
Wauchula. I was in those towns two years ago for Hurricanes Charley and Frances. Also, I've got some invites to stop and
stay with some people. I'm not sure where I will be traveling after Florida. Some of my friends in Colorado Springs, CO
want me to visit with them.
It is still hard to believe that this year will be my 14th year on the road. I'll also be celebrating my 50th birthday
this June. It's hard for me to believe that.
I'll try and post and update as often as I can if my plans change.
