TRIP 2006 UPDATES
Update #30 - November 02, 2006
Gatesville, TX
8537.8 miles ( 13,660.5 kms) since March 27th,
9029.1 miles ( 14,446.6 kms) since Jan 01st
This is going to be a short update. The twelve days of riding from Pearlington, MS to here went well. The only real obstacles
was getting across the Mississippi River (I did this by taking the Plaquemine Ferry south of Baton Rouge, Louisiana)and getting across the
Atchafalaya Bridge near Krotz Springs, Louisiana. I did take two days off the road because of bad weather in DeRidder, LA and
Livingston, Texas.
I've committed myself to ride across the country again. This would be my 14th crossing of the United States since 1993. I figuere
that I've got about 1600 miles to ride to San Diego, California. I'd like to follow the same route in New Mexico that I took on my
very first trip across the country in 1986 between Hobbs and Las Cruces but I'm concerned that it might be too late in the year and
there would be snow already near Mayhill, New Mexico. If I can't go that way, I'll have to ride along the interstate to El Paso,
Texas. I'm not looking forward to this part of the ride.
I'll try and post and update as often as I can if my plans change. The next update should be posted between November
09th and November 16th
