It is hard to believe that 14 years ago, I headed east from the Santa Monica, California Pier not knowing what I was going to do, where I was going, and how I was going to financially survive. I've survived pretty well but there are a few things that I've had to give up. I've lived a pretty simple life and I've tried very hard to follow the path that I think my L-RD has set forth for me.

My travels haven't been a piece of cake. There has been a lot of twists and turns, super highs and super lows. I've had some internal questions that I've had to deal with. I've dealt with friendly people and some down-right scary people. I've been shot at, robbed several times, beaten up, hit by several cars, had a lot of things thrown at me, and dealt with a many unfriendly motorists. I'ved dealt with some really friendly and understanding ministers who treated me like an equal and ones who just saw me as some homeless person bumming around the country.

I'm pretty sure that I've got some more years of health to keep on the road. In some ways, I'm looking forward to the experiences and will accept on what is thrown at me. Tomorrow, I'll be crossing into North Carolina from Cheraw, South Carolina. So far, I've traveled almost 1500 miles for the month. This isn't the most I've cycled in one month since I've passed 2000 miles in one month.

I am on my way to Maine. I estimate that I've got a month of travel to get there. Possibly, I'll be going farther up the coast than what I've cycled before. This would have me cross New Hampshire and Vermont farther north than what I've done before. I just hope that the mountain gremlins will look nicely upon me so I don't have a repeat on what happened in 2003 or something worse.
