TRIP 2007 UPDATES
Update #30 - Sunday, November 11, 2007
MARY ESTHER, FL
10,960.03 miles (17,536.05 kms) since Jan 01st
1,016.53 miles (1,626.45 kms) since October 27
Friday, November 08th, I started my ride along the Gulf of Mexico. I've got one more city to go here in Florida (Pensacola)
before I get into Alabama. I hope to be in Grand Bay, Alabama by Wednesday night. This should put me in Waveland either
Friday or Saturday.
There isn't really much to write since my last entry from Groveland. I've put in some extraordinary long days even though
the days are getting shorter especially now since Daylight Savings Time is over and also since I'm now in the Central
Time Zone. I've ridden almost 500 miles in the last six days. I've had three days over 80 miles.
One of the good things is that my left knee seems to be healing up okay since my small mishap back on October 28th. The
little cut below my left knee has healed up okay and there is very little joint pain.
I've got to meet some new people along the way and also to see some old acquaintances that I haven't seen in two or three
years. Road wise, riding Florida highways has been okay but today was a little hard between Sandestin and Destin since
they had repaved U.S. 98. The roadway for cars was smooth but the shoulder is still ground up so it was a bumpy
ride.
After Pensacola, FL, it should be smooth sailing. The one minor obstacle coming up is hoping that the ferry between Ft.
Morgan and Dauphin Island, AL is still in operation since this would save me a three day ride up and through Mobile,
AL.
I'll try and post and update as often as I can if my plans change. The next update should be posted between November
18th and November 25th. Hopefully, I'll have more to write about by then.
