TRIP 2009

Update #22 - July 24th
West Point, Nebraska
5460 miles (8736 KM) since March 22nd
5653 miles (9045 KM) since January 01st

It has been an interesting nine days since leaving Plymouth, Minnesota. Instead of heading south to Iowa and then turning west, I rode across Minnesota to SE South Dakota. I followed the Luce Trail in Minnesota for about thirty miles. I made stops in Hutchinson; New Ulm; Tracy; and Pipestone, Minnesota ; Madison and Mitchell, South Dakota, Niobrara and Neligh, Nebraska. Three of the things that I checked out were Laura Ingalls Wilder Days in Walnut Grove, Minnesota; the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota; and Prairie Days in Tilden, Nebraska where I checked out the Vietnam War Memorial "Moving Wall".

I was going to head west from Neligh, Nebraska to Eastern Colorado but I decided for the moment to head south to Greensburg, Kansas and make the decision whether to head west to Colorado or not. Ninety-five percent of Greensburg was destroyed by an EF-5 tornado on May 4, 2007. I hope to learn some "green-technology" rebuilding. I am about 460 miles away from Greensburg. I am not sure how long it would take me to get to Greensburg because I will be dealing with high temperatures during the day and possible thunderstorms along the way.

The next update should be between August 01 and August 08.
