NEW LIGHTS !!!

Friday afternoon, I got a package via U.P.S. from
NiteRider in San Diego, California. NiteRider became one of my newest sponsors last month. I wrote to them wondering whether they might be able to help me out with some new lights for my recumbent. The lights that I had on the recumbent were getting worn out and they didn't produce a lot of light. Because of this, I didn't want to ride after dusk and only did so when I had to.

I was hoping that NiteRider would send me a pair of mid-range battery powered (AA) LED lights but I was given one of their newest
MiNewt 200 light systems. It has a Lithion Ion battery pack that takes about 4.5 hours to fully charge the battery when you use the included AC adaptor. This battery pack (power module) fastens on to the bike frame using a long Velcro strap. The light assembly (headlamp) fastens on to the bike with rubberized O-rings. I was really surprised at how much light the little white light LED puts out. It has three settings (high, low, and a daylight visible flash). At the high setting, the light will run up to 3.5 hours and produce 200 Lumens of light. At the low setting, the light will run up to 7.0 hours at 100 Lumens of light. I tried out the light outside at night and I was amazed that because of the special reflector and Borofloat lens, the light width was two lanes wide and I could see clearly a block ahead of me.

Along with the front light, I was given two
Cherry Bomb LED rear lights. The Half watt LED allows for up to 1 mile visibility. There are two modes (flashing and steady). The lights depending on what mode you set them on last between 20 and 40 hours on two AAA Alkaline batteries. I've got both of these connected to the back of my rear rack.

Here is a slide show of the pictures that I took of them.

There might be another posting around Feb 19th. This will be the seventeenth anniversary on when this adventure on two-wheels had started. Until, then I wish everybody who reads this good life and health.
