Snow ... Snow ... Go Away ... Come back another day.

As I mentioned in the last update, I am getting tired of snow and more is coming this way. Blizzard warnings are going up starting around 3 PM this afternoon. The weather service is calling for between one and three (three and eight centimeters of snow an hour). There could also be high winds up to 50 mph (80 kmph). Hopefully, the snow will not be as bad as they predict. We have had temperatures up to 34 degrees Fahrenheit (+1 degrees Celcius). As I am writing this update out, the temperature outside is 19 degrees Fahrenheit (-7 degrees Celcius). The predicted high tomorrow is just going 9 degrees Fahrenheit (-13 degrees Celcius).

The picture of what looks like a small mountain is the mound of snow that is growing in a parking lot in downtown Savanna, Illinois. I haven't attempted to climb to the top of the mound but from what it looks it has to be at least 14 feet (4.26 meters) tall. The snow pile covers about a tenth of the parking lot and from what I understand it might grow to half of the parking lot before this winter ends.

I cannot believe all of the thousands of visitors that this site had last month. Before October (2010), I was lucky to get between one and eight hundred visitors a month. In October (2010), this site got almost 1,000 visitors. In November (2010), this site got almost 3,000 visitors. In December (2010), this site got almost 5,000 visitors. Last month (January 2011), this site got a whopping 13,441 visitors. These visitors came from 170 countries around the world (which was eight more countries that I had in December 2010). In one month, this website had the total number of visitors that came by in 2009 and 2010. The thing that is really amazing me is that nineteen percent of the visitors were returnees for a total of 1,723 visitors. Also, I am amazed at how many backlinks that I find.

Sometime in late this month, I'll be starting to make plans for the upcoming trip. I hope to be on the road sometime in late March or early April. I will be traveling to the West Coast and back. My original plan was stay up north on my way west but I think that I will head south before I turn westward. I will probably not be riding all of the way to the Pacific Ocean. When I get to El Centro, California, I will probably be turning northward and ride to Bakersfield, Fresno, Sacremento, and Redding. I need a change since I've ridden up and down the Pacific Coasts over a dozen times. I will keep everybody abreast through upcoming updates.

I'll try and add a new update every two weeks along the way so the next one will be around February 15th, 2011.
