TRIP 2011

Update #07 - March 23th
Savanna, Illinois
00.00 miles (00.00 KM)

I am really disappointed. I was going to be packing up my bike today and heading out tomorrow but it isn't going to happen. The weather has turned cold again. Last week, the high got up to 63 degrees Fahrenheit (+17 Celcius). The warm temperatures didn't last long. Today, the high was just 42 degrees Fahrenheit (+6 Celcius). There was also a brief period of snow flurries. I do not like riding in really cold weather. I am going to have to wait at least a week until the temperature gets above 50 degrees Fahrenheit (+10 Celcius).

I was really hoping to be on the road before March 27th. This was going to be the eighteenth anniversary of the start of my ministry. My new start date will be either Wednesday, March 30th or Thursday, March 31st. There is some concern that this isn't going to happen because there might be some flooding along the Mississippi River. Businesses are starting to put sandbags in front of their buildings along Main Street.

From Savanna, Illinois, I will be heading down the East side of the Mississippi River through Quincy, Illinois to Memphis, Tennessee, and then on to Greenville, Mississippi. At Greenville, I will be crossing the Mississippi River and then head to Shreveport, Louisiana where I will be stopping for a few days and volunteering with the Fuller Center For Housing and help them build some homes.

I will keep everybody abreast through upcoming updates. Usually, I try and add a new update every two weeks along the way so the next one will be around April 07th, 2011.
