TRIP 2012

Update #10 - June 14th
Baton Rouge, Louisiana
00.00 miles (00.00 KM)

It's been an up and down 13 days since the last update. For ten days, I couldn't do much with my right knee because it was hurting really bad. I was thinking that I was going to have to see an orthopedic specialist for my knee but I didn't have to. I tried to stay off the knee as much as possible, lots of ice packs, some extra strength ibuprofen, not that much walking on it, and a lot of prayer. The pain lessoned enought that I could go on short walks about 4 days ago. I went out and got some Aspercreme and it reduced the pain a lot. I was able to sleep more.

Yesterday, I got enough courage to see if I could get back on my recumbent and ride. The first ride yesterday morning went okay. The knee worked pretty good but the problem that I had was pain from a tight calf muscle. I was on the recumbent again yesterday afternoon and on it again today. I have a pretty good course that is not all flat. I was thinking that I would have to downshift up front to either the middle chain ring or even down to the small Granny gear but I was able to take the hills in the high gears. I'm pretty confident that my knee will survive the next trip.

The dental surgery is over finally and now I'm in the post appointment stage. The dentist wants me to come in at least two more times to make sure everything is okay. I'm doing pretty good with my knee mouth. I've got a full smile, which is something that I didn't have for a very long time. I've got my normal speech back and I'm eating more solid foods. I just have to watch out for biting into very hard foods.

I am really hoping that I get all of the loose strings regarding my insurance claim by the end of this month, my dental appointments finished, and getting some more training in. Right now, I am hoping to finally head out sometime during the beginning of the second week in July right after the Fourth of July.

Oh, tomorrow is another birthday for me. I'm as old as the year of my birth. Kind of disappointed that I will not be on the road this year. This time last year I was in Central Oklahoma one day's ride away from Oklahoma City.

For those who keep up with my updates, I want to tell you that this website might be temporarily offline for two or three days. I am moving the website over to TruePath Christian Hosting The transfer of the files shouldn't take long via ftp. The thing that will take long (between 24 and 72 hours) would be for the DNS systems around the world to have the new address for my website. I will still have the same domain name. Hopefully, the switchover will be done over the weekend. The ministry website has been online for almost 14 years.

I'll try and add a new update every two weeks along the way so the next one will be around Thursday, June 28th.
