TRIP 2012

Update #11 - June 30th
Baton Rouge, Louisiana
00.00 miles (00.00 KM)

The dental surgery is over finally and now I'm in the post appointment stage. The dentist wants me to come in at least two more times to make sure everything is okay. It is really great that they are nearly done.

I finally made the decision to head out. I'm leaving Baton Rouge Monday, July 16th. I've got a countdown clock on the home page.

The current plan for the trip is to head north up the Mississippi River to at least Dubuque, Iowa; swing Northwest to Decorah, Iowa so that I can speak at a friend's Evangelical Lutheran church; swing Northeast to Minneapolis, Minnesota; head east to Grand Rapids, Michigan; swing Southeast to Southern Indiana and Ohio to check out the recovery effort after the terrible tornadoes that happened during early Spring; swing Northeast to Buffalo, New York; and then head east to Chittenango, New York. I should be in Chittenango by mid October. One of the things that I am looking forward to (if I am financially able at the time) is to take the ferry across Lake Michigan between Wisconsin and Michigan. Also, I am supposed to take part in a special ride in Southern Ohio.

This morning, I took my recumbent to a local bike shop for a final check-up. I needed some work done of the rear derailleur because it was slipping some. The repair was quick and I learned how to do it myself.

I'll try and add a new update every two weeks along the way so the next one will be around Saturday, July 14th.
