Shalom. I want to welcome all of you to the newly remodeled website at it's new home on the
web. Since the beginning of 2000 and thru the present, I have been constantly making
changes to this site to make it better. Most of the graphic images have been optimized as
much as possible without losing very much clarity.
This site is best viewed with Internet Explorer but it can be seen pretty well with
Firefox. Viewers using Apple - Macintosh computers should be able to see the site pretty
well also. I'm sorry that I can't say the same thing for users of WebTv. The site is best
viewed at the highest setting that you can get with your monitor.
I would first like to thank Waco Web Designs right off the bat for the offer of hosting
this site on it's server. This website was started in the Fall of 1998. For almost eight
years, the site was hosted at Yahoo!GeoCities. Through in what I would call a personal
"mini-miracle" back in March, 2006, I was given the chance to move to a new server. Here
on this server, I have more than enough space to grow. With the GeoCities free site, I was
only given 15 MBytes of space. I have now almost a half GigaBytes of space to use. Also,
I was given the chance to obtain my own domain name, which was something that I always wished
for.
This site belongs to Rev. Johannes (Hans) Myors but it is actually about a cycling ministry
called "Pedal Prayers". The ministry of "Pedal Prayers" was started on Feb. 19th, 1993 from
Portland, Oregon and this journey on two-wheels has taken me sixteen times across the
United States, up and down the East and West Coasts several times, and in every state but
Alaska and Hawaii. Total miles for the eighteen plus years of travel is a distance
equivalent to over eight times around the Equator ( 210,823 miles (337,317 KM)) as of
September 28, 2011.
"Pedal Prayers" is a mission of love that uses verses fourteen through twenty-six of the
Second Chapter of "Ya'akov" (JAMES) as it's heart. These verses when paraphrased say "that
if you see somebody in need and you have the means to do something about their need. You
can't just go to that person, pat them on the back, wish them well, say that you'll pray
for them, and then walk away. You are commanded to help out. Your faith and your works have
to go hand in hand." You can't just say that you are a Follower and Believer in the
teachings of "Y'shua" (the Messiah) [Talk the Big Talk] without showing people that you
[Walk the BIG Walk].
(Don't be surprised at seeing a lot of Jewish words throughout the site because my faith is
a combination of the Hebrew of the Torah and the philosophy of caring of the New Testament.)
The above verses above can also be considered as my ministry's "belief" or "mission"
statement. What I've been trying to do is to show through being a living example that we
need to make our faith known by our actions. We can't just talk it but live it. This
doesn't mean that our actions can save us. We can't buy salvation through works or doing
good deeds but we need to show it as an evidence of our faith (JAMES 2:17). Only ADONAI's
(the L-RD) Grace can save us and His Grace can be found through His son Y'SHUA (the
Messiah).
During these eighteen plus years, I have stopped to talk at churches and to anybody
alongside the bi-ways and highways of this great land who were either Christian, Jewish,
non-believers, or believers in other faiths and wanted to hear about my message; how I
helped out at many natural disaster sites caused by earthquakes, floods, hurricanes,
tornadoes, and wild fires; and where I pounded in a few nails in sixty-eight new or
rehabbed homes at different Fuller center For Housing and Habitat for Humanity sites.
Between 1996 and 2001, I visited over 1,200 Habitat for Humanity affiliates around the
country as a "Good-will ambassador on two-wheels". Due to some faith and organizational
issues being expressed at the international headquarters of Habitat for Humanity in
Americus, Georgia, I'm not promoting Habitat and have not done so since October of 2001.
What I hope to do with this site is to tell about what I have been doing, how you might
get involved if you want to in what I'm doing, or possibly how you can get involved in
your own area yourselves.
For the first seven years of this website's existence, it had been hosted at Yahoo!GeoCities.
Since the Yahoo GeoCities neighborhood that had I chose to reside in was about the "Great Outdoors",
there is an extensive section on Bicycle Touring set up for the beginner or somebody who is interested
in touring. I included this section at it's new home in the web. Also, there is a small section on
Religion because this is a ministry site but be assured that there is no heavy preaching here.
My apologies go out to people who get tired of reading a lot. This site (I have to admit)
is a text-intensive site. It's very hard to bottle down a life's calling and over eighteen
year long journey of sharing in a few words. You will find a lot of imagery inside so
that things can visualized in your own mind's eye.
There are no really fancy bells and whistles here. Animation is limited to just a few
animated graphics or what you can imagine in your own mind. This is also a "frame-free"
site. I did this so that people who have older style browsers could still enjoy what is
inside.
So if you are still interested in finding out more about me and my bicycling ministry and
wasn't turned off from all that you had to read right at the start, please load up your
gear, strap on your helmet, and join the ride.
